Ryan is currently the captain of the rescue division at Scruggs Fire and Rescue. He serves with his wife Denise, who is the First Lieutenant of the rescue division. They have been married for 22 years and have 2 sons that are 20 and 16. Both boys have chosen to follow in their footsteps to volunteer in fire and rescue.
Ryan says, “I really don’t know what made me decide to become a volunteer, I was young and did not have any hobbies, so I joined to help out in my community.”
His hobbies include teaching CPR and spending time with his family and his dog.
Ryan says, “This year has been one of the hardest years running calls because of COVID-19. First responders, both volunteer and career, have managed to push through and be there for the people of our county. Franklin County is very blessed to have each and every one of you.”
