Franklin County's Department of Public Safety is dedicated to providing Emergency Services, to include, but not limited to, Fire, Emergency Medical Services, Animal Control and Emergency Management that are, delivered in a timely and efficient manner by well-trained and dedicated career and volunteer professionals.
The Public Works Department is responsible for Road Programs, Solid Waste, Utilities, and Special Projects.

The Franklin County Department of Social Services is one of 120 local departments in Virginia's public social services system. The Department is an agency of county government which administers federal, state, and local public assistance and social work service programs.

The Franklin County Voter Registrar's Office is an agency of the Department of Elections (ELECT). The Department of Elections was created in 1946 as a bipartisan agency responsible for ensuring uniformity, fairness, accuracy, and purity in all elections in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
